Commentaire :

Exemplaire en très belle conservation, aux détails encore bien lisibles malgré une circulation modérée. Ce petit Notgeld en zinc constitue la division immédiatement inférieure du 10 Pfennig de même série, avec un tirage plus restreint encore (20 000 exemplaires contre 30 000), émis par la ville de Sarrebourg en pleine période de pénurie monétaire de la Première Guerre mondiale. Comme pour l'ensemble de cette série, le zinc s'est substitué aux métaux traditionnels du petit numéraire, réquisitionnés par l'administration allemande pour les besoins de l'effort de guerre.

L'avers reproduit les armoiries municipales de Sarrebourg, tandis que le revers se limite à l'inscription KRIEGSGELD 1917 et à la valeur faciale. Cette sobriété formelle, commune à l'ensemble des émissions de la série Funck 462, reflète le caractère purement fonctionnel de ce numéraire de circonstance, destiné à assurer les paiements locaux quotidiens plutôt qu'à servir de support de propagande ou de commande officielle prestigieuse.

SARREBOURG (SAARBURG) (Reichsland Elsass-Lothringen, 1871-1918)
Rattachée à l'Empire allemand de 1871 à 1918 au sein du Reichsland Elsass-Lothringen, la ville de Sarrebourg émet, comme nombre de communes de la région, une série complète de Notgeld en zinc durant la Grande Guerre pour pallier le manque de petite monnaie officielle. Ces émissions communales cessent avec le retour de la Lorraine à la France après l'armistice de 1918.
